A barcode encodes an identifier.

Generating a symbol does not register a globally unique product number or add a product to retailer databases. Use your assigned GTIN for retail products; obtain identifiers through GS1 when needed. Keep quiet zones clear, use dark bars on a light background, and test a printed label with your actual scanner. A preview is not certification.
